We are in and getting settled!

Wednesday at 2 p.m. we closed on our new house.  Thursday at 8 a.m. the movers arrived at the Storage Center to pack up all of our possessions and bring them to the new house.  They left our house last night at 7:00 p.m.!!  The worked the entire day moving everything we have here.  I started unpacking as they were bringing boxes over until about 10:00 p.m.  I woke up today at 5:30 a.m. and started right at the boxes, especially the kitchen boxes.  John and I decided to quit work at 8:00 p.m. tonight.  We are sore, tired and need some relaxation.  Tomorrow we will start working on the other boxes in the garage and getting the loft area situated.  The house has been a delight to set up-we really love living here!  It is alot of work and there is alot more to do but it is all worth it!!

Just Chillin'

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now we are just resting up before our big move on Thursday!  Yesterday I got up really late, Megan and Ken took us out to brunch, then we just came home and chilled out.  After a few hours of reading, I headed over to our local yarn shop in Mint Hill to knit with some of my knitting buddies.  We recapped our Thanksgiving and knitted to our hearts content!  I came home and after knitting some more John, Ken and I had Thanksgiving items for dinner.  Megan got home around 9:15 and then we chilled and chatted some more.

Here is one of my favorite Thanksgiving photos that was taken this year:

Owen was go, go, go and then he got so tired.  I brought him up on my lap and we were watching the parade and off he went to Dreamland-LOL!!!

Today John is going to help me get my jewelry making Rubbermaid tubs out and I'll be creating some sparklies!  I have a necklace I need to make for a customer and I have to start thinking about making my Mom something for Christmas.  I didn't make her any jewelry for her birthday in October and she was disappointed! I'm also making dinner tonight since Megan has to work 9-3.  This will be our last weekend at Megan and Ken's and it is so nice to have just a chillin' one!!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday so far!

Saturday-Visit to Black Mountain, NC

Saturday at 9 a.m. my 5 knitting friends (Pam, Peggy, Betty, Debbie and Patty) left Mint Hill, NC and drove the 2 hours and 15 minutes to Black Mountain, NC.  Betty told us there was a really good yarn shop there and we should all take a trip so we did!  What fun we had!!

We had lunch at a little place in Black Mountain and the food was so good!  Debbie's sisters, Laurie and Laurie's friend, Chris met us at the restaurant and had lunch with us.  Debbie's sister lives near Boone, NC.  After lunch we walked over to the Black Mountain Yarn Shop and did we have fun there!  I bought 630 yds. of Tencel yarn, which I will be making a lovely Spring shawl for myself.  The colors in the yarn reminded me of Monet's waterlilies!!  So very beautiful!  I also bought some mohair mix yarn and I'll be making a scarf with these 2 skeins mixed with winter white yarn.  Should be really beautiful.  We were at the yarn shop for about 1.5 hrs. oohhhhing and ahhhhhhing!  After that we went to a few other little shops that sold pottery, handwoven items, handmade jewelry, blown glass, etc.  We really could have spent the weekend there but alas 3:30 arrived.  We piled back in Pam's vehicle and headed back to Mint Hill.  I arrived back at Megan and Ken's around 5:45.

What a wonderful day and what wonderful company!!!

Here are some photos of the day:

Peggy, has her shawl on and was looking at a lovely poncho another woman had on.  We didn't know the woman but we did love her handiwork!  This photo was taken in the Black Mountain Yarn Shop.
Here are 2 of my knitting friends while we were waiting for our lunch to arrive.  Pam is on the left and Debbie is on the right.
Here is Peggy, another of my knitting friends.  Chris, that came and had lunch with us brought a gift for Peggy.  It was a hand knitted shawl she had made.  It looked beautiful on Peggy with her basic black top!!

What a wonderful day and what wonderful memories we all will have!  Thanks girls!!

We have sod!!!

Megan just sent me a text with this picture attached.  We have sod!!!  The porch posts and railings are up too!  They need to be painted yet, which I guess will happen tomorrow.  What a difference landscaping makes!  Can't wait to live there!!

I'm still here just swamped with work and the new house!!

I am sorry I have been a really bad blogger lately.  My life has become even busier than normal!

1.  We are now living with our oldest daughter, Megan and her husband, Ken until the house is done and we move in on 11/29.  Everything is going really great!  I really feel at home at their house and it is definitely much more enjoyable than the apartment.  Teddy is really enjoying it alot more too!  We have fun creating meals together, planning menus for the week, chatting, going out to dinner, etc.  They are wonderful!!

2.  The move from the apartment was a little stressful and nerve wracking!  We had to end up moving the apartment on a Saturday and the garage on a Tuesday.  The movers we used were slow and everything had to be taken over to a storage unit and it happened to be on the second floor of the storage place.  Which meant that everything had to be taken up in a freight elevator!!!  Just a side note we are not moving ourselves  with help this time to the new house, we have hired a moving company to do the whole thing-YAY!!!

3.  My job has sifted into a higher gear than it was before.  I have one project manager that has not been very great to work with.  He is demanding and is demanding that I do his work only and not the other 8 Project Managers I work for.  I finally had to talk to my boss, who is the Owner of the Company this morning.  He said he has talked to him twice and may just have to let him go because not only is he driving me crazy, he is making his Superintendent on the project and all his Subcontractors crazy.  He is one crazy man!!  I'm glad my boss knew all about it before I had to go into too much detail!

Well that is about all there is to tell everyone right now, except that the new house is just gorgeous and John and I are counting the days until we move in!!!  We have alot to be thankful and will have a great Thanksgiving with our entire family here in NC!!  Life doesn't get better than this!!

We are getting close!!

The builder sent us an email on Thursday, we are closing on our new house on 11/28!!  Here are some photos I took yesterday after we got back from our trip to the mountains of Virginia.

Almost done on the front.  The porch posts need to be completed and the railing and spindles need to be added.
Stable garage door.
I couldn't believe how big the kitchen is!  This looks really small in the photo compared to standing in the room.
Stone work being put on for the front of the house.

We are almost there!!!
