Weekend at Folly Beach Really Soggy!!

I haven't posted in a while and I'm sorry about that.  John and I went to Folly Beach, SC Monday and Tuesday and we had torrential rain the entire time!!  We stayed at the Water's Edge Inn, which was really nice.  We did manage to have a good time talking, reading, knitting (well just I was knitting), etc.  We drove over to Charleston on Tuesday on our way back home.  There are so many houses for sale on both Folly and Charleston.  I was so surprised!  The houses in Charleston need so much upkeep, I think that is the problem.

We stopped on the way down to Folly Beach at Summerville, SC.  I knew there was a nice yarn shop there.  Some of my knitting friends had gone there before.  I bought 3 skeins of Liberty Yarn for a scarf/shawl for myself.  I had a lovely conversation with the owner.  She was delightful!!  Next to the yarn shop was a glycerine soap shop but they were closed on the way down.  We stopped in on the way back and the shop was open!  I bought Megan a St. Patrick's Day bar of soap with little clovers and celtic symbols on it for watching Teddy for us while we were gone.  I bought myself some grapefruit scented soap and some vanilla Dream Cream which is body cream!  Smells wonderful!!

So even though it was a soggy 2 days we managed to occupy ourselves and have a good time!!

My Favorite Yarn Shop is Closing!

I have been going to Cottage Yarn for about 3-4 years.  I love the owner, Sara!  Sara has decided to retire and unless someone steps in and buys the shop it will be closing in a little while.  I am sad to see this little shop go but I do understand why Sara wants to retire!  Some of us will still be meeting and knitting together but we will have to go to the 3 other shops in Charlotte to buy our yarn.  I have a pretty good yarn stash right now so I shouldn't have to buy alot for awhile.

I really hate to see another little shop that is independently owned close.  The area where I live could really use a yarn shop.  The other 3 shops in the area in in Charlotte and not really close to where I live.  1 of the shops is close to where I work, so that would work for me as far as buying yarn.

I have made many friends at Cottage Yarn and I hope some of us remain friends and go on trips, go to yarn festivals, knit on Tuesday and Sundays and just remain connected.

John and I will be going to the Water's Edge Inn at Folly Beach, SC at the end of the month!
The reservations are booked.  We will be there for 2 days and 1 night.  We are only about 3.5 hours from there.  This is our Valentine's Day present.  Here are some pictures of The Charleston Room we will be staying in:

The Weekend!

I have had a really good weekend so far!  I took yesterday off from work.  It was a much needed R & R day!  I have been working so hard and I just needed a break.  I went with Jenny and Owen to a fabric store in Gastonia, NC.  They had so much there!  Jenny got material for Baby Jack's Nursery.  We then left and came back down to where I live in Mint Hill.  We went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch.  I swear that little Owen has a hollow leg!  That boy can eat-LOL!!  We then went to Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Old Navy.  It was a really nice day!  I came home and was tired so I took a nap.

Today John and I had to be up and ready for the Warranty man from True Homes.  We have a flooring issue in our Master Bedroom and Bath and a hardware floor issue by the back door.  The Warranty man agreed we have to have all our bedroom furniture moved out and the carpet pulled up and in the bath the tile removed and the underlayment (flooring under the carpet) screwed down properly.  We are pretty sure one of the workers forgot to screw the underlayment down!  It will be pretty messy but we don't want problems down the road.

After the warranty man left John and I ate breakfast and then we went outside to measure for a patio.  We are thinking 18' wide by 25' long.  I have a few subcontractors from work that will give me a good deal and one even said he would just charge me for materials, which I thought was very, very nice of him!!  It is exciting to plan out the patio, gardens, walls, raised beds, etc.  We also picked up some sticks that had fallen off the trees in the backyard.  Teddy loved chasing all of them-LOL!!!

Here are some photos I took this morning while I was sitting at the breakfast room table watching the birds at the feeder:

Last week I noticed some trees were cleared from the lot across the street from our house.  Sure enough on Thursday night when I got the mail the builder is starting to clear the lot and building a new house there.  I hope our new neighbors are really nice.  Here is the lot (notice the lovely Carolina Blue sky!!!):

This afternoon I will be chillin' out reading and knitting.  I have started Jack's blanket.  April will be here before you know it!

Hope you have a great weekend!

The Weekend!

What a great weekend I had!  Saturday night 14 people from my office came over and we had a wonderful time!  Everyone loved the house and they couldn't believe how much of the house I had together.  It was great to see my co-workers and boss with their spouses in a different environment.

This morning Jenny and Owen came for a visit.  We treated them to breakfast and then we came back to our house for some visit time!  Owen wanted Jenny to read him a book we keep here for him.  It is made from really heavy cardboard because he is a "ripper".  Here are some photos from today:

 Jenny reading to Owen.
Owen "reading" to Jenny.
Owen looking at me, "Look Nana I'm reading to Mom do you mind"!!!  He is so funny!

We had a really fun time.  It was a nice few hours with them!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Housewarming Party on Saturday Night!

Hi Everyone!  I haven't been on here in a few days because I've been getting ready for the housewarming party we are having tomorrow night!  There about about 14 people from my office coming over.  I'm planning on having finger foods, beer, wine, little desserts.  Everyone in the office kept asking me when they were going to see the house, so John and I decided to invite them all at once.  There were some who couldn't come and will stop over some other time but we should have a great time with the 14 that are coming!

Tonight John and I will be heading over to Costco to do some shopping and tomorrow a.m. we will be going to Harris Teeter to get the perishables.  I love hosting parties!!

So what are you doing this weekend?
