Starting a new sweater, flowers and necklace.

I bought a beautiful skein of hand-dyed rayon yarn from my local yarn shop.  It actually is 1,200 yds of beautiful blues.  The shop owner and I laughed about it being a yarn cake because of the high yardage-LOL!!  I found a kimono-type sweater pattern and I started it last night.  This is as far as I got:

Today while John was raking up some straw from the seeding of the backyard lawn, I was in the house making a birthstone bird nest necklace for a customer.  She has 2 sons and their birthstones are blue topaz and sapphire.  I used some Swarovski crystals for the "eggs".  I think it turned out really pretty!

After making the necklace I decided to have a cup of hot tea this afternoon.  It is chilly here because of the rain.  The showers are really making our flowers pop!  Here is some coral bells in the front garden.

These coral bells were from my Nana's plant.  Nana has been gone for over 23 years, but every time I have moved I have bought a piece of this plant with me!  That is alot of moving and the plant is doing so well!
I sat out on the back porch before the rain shower came.  I love this little plant!!  What gorgeous coloring!!

This Saturday has been a really good one!  Jenny brought Owen and Jack to our house for a visit!!  What a great visit it was!!!

Hope everyone had a great Saturday too!!

Baby Jack arrived on Friday!

I am very late about getting this on my blog, but I have been so busy!  Little Jack arrived on Friday morning, 7 lbs. 13 ozs and 21 inches long!  He has so much hair!!  I think he will need a haircut in the next few days!! Jenny is doing fine and so is the baby.  She went home from the hospital on Sunday afternoon.  Her c-section was so much easier this time than last.  She is doing just awesome.  Tonight we are going up to bring some lasagna and some Texas toast to them.  I made 2 lasagnas so if she is having a crazy day with the boys, she can just pop the lasagna in the oven and she won't have to worry about making dinner.

John and I had Owen at the house from Thursday night until Monday a.m. and while I can say we are so tired we really did enjoy the little man and we miss him!  Owen unfortunately has learned the word NO or OH NO.  Hopefully he will move from that stage soon.

Here is a picture of cute little Jack.

Baby Jack's Blanket is Done!!!

Sunday night I finished little Jack's blanket and just in time!!  Jack is due to arrive at 7:00 a.m. this Friday morning and I guess it is a good thing I finished his blanket!!  I love the robin egg blue color with the white border.  I made another blanket out of the same pattern one other time so I was familiar at how easy it was.  Here is a few photos:

I folded the blanket over so you don't see the entire white border.  I think the white just puts a finished edge on it.
This is an upclose shot of the blanket.  I love the way the pattern just emerges from the yarn as you knit along!

I would definitely use this pattern again.  I hope Baby Jack feels warm and secure in it!!

Gardening Weekend!!

Well this was a full gardening weekend for John and I!!  We are sore beyond belief but the gardens look so good!  Saturday morning John and I went to Kings Nursery in Stallings, NC.  I love that place.  It is pricey but they have such beautiful flowers!  We bought some things there.  I came home and made up two window boxes for the front porch.  John put them up for me and they look beautiful!

John started digging the new garden in the backyard.  It goes from the back porch all along the back of the house. All I have got to say is clay, clay and more clay!!  Whenever John and I dig new gardens or plant plants we really miss the NJ soil we used to have.  John worked on the garden for hours.  We then went to Lowes and got peat moss to amend the soil.

This morning we went up to Jenny and Kevins.  We took Jenny, Kevin and Owen out for breakfast.  We had a really nice visit.  Owen was definitely all wound up.  He was so cute riding his Batman car!!

When John and I got home we changed into gardening clothes.  John put peat moss on the backyard garden and then worked it into the soil.  Then I planted 5 hostas and a clump of Lenten Rose.  Those babies were so glad to get out of their pots.  They have been potted up for 3.5 yrs!!  Poor things.

We even put our fountain together!!

When we got done with this garden we headed out to the front garden.  John pulled out 7 ugly shrubs the builder had put in.  They seemed diseased too!  I planted 3 daylilies, 1 clump of coral bells, 1 gardenia bush, 1 lily and 2 rose bushes.

Needless to say we are both so sore!!  We took some aspirins, nice hot showers and we have been chillin' out in front of the TV for quite a few hours now!!

It was a beautiful weekend!!

Easter Weekend was Wonderful!!

We all had such a wonderful time the whole weekend!  Friday was shopping, lunching and visiting with Megan.  That afternoon I went up to my creating table and made 2 pairs of earrings for my etsy site which I had not done in a very long time!  Saturday John and I had breakfast with our friends, Melvin and Roxanne.  It was a wonderful time.  Then back home and we painted the office in the house a beautiful shade of blue!

I love this color blue!  I also love how it makes the bookcase  pop out!  Everything is moving right along!!

Easter Sunday we went to Church.  What a lovely service that was!  Our minister is awesome!  Then we went back to Megan and Ken's house for Easter Dinner!  She out did herself!  The food was wonderful.  Ken's brother, David and his 5 children were there, Ken, Megan, Jenny, Kevin, Owen, John and I!  Large crowd this year but we had alot of  fun!

After dinner Owen decided he was really intrigued with my bracelet!  He kept saying ooooooooh and aaaaaaahh!  Very funny!

 Jenny took these pictures.
We are very blessed to have such a great family!!  Next Easter we will have Baby Jack with us!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter too!!
