I hope everyone had a really Merry Christmas! John and I sure did! The grandboys, daughters and son-in-laws all arrived around 9 a.m. and we had a wonderful, joyous day for sure! I will post some photos later. Owen loved his Thomas the Train table and all the other gifts he received. Jenny dressed him in 1950's vintage style cowboy PJ's-he looked so cute! Jack was in red and white striped footed PJ's-he looked like a little elf! Those little boys are just so sweet and loveable!
John and I are very blessed to have a wonderful family and that they live close by. It was alot of fun! I also spoke with my 2 sisters and my parents. They were all getting together and it sounded like a full house with kids, boyfriends, dogs, etc.
This are the times I will always remember, wonderful memories!

Jack and the Tree
Jenny and Kevin put up their little Christmas tree and Jack loves it!! I remember when Owen was around Jack's age he loved the ornaments but I really think Jack is enthralled with the lights as you can see in this photo:
Jenny took this photo and I just love it!! I love Jack's little cherub cheeks and the way he is reaching for the lights with his little chubby fingers! So cute!!

John Got the Outside Decorations Up!
I love the way the house looks when it is all lit up!!
When I took a photo of one of the candles in the front window I noticed the sunset reflected in the window!
This is my old Flexible Flyer sled and my old ice skates. I need to add some greenery to this but for now here it is. My sled has to be about 47 years old!! The skates are probably about 42 yrs. old!!
Can't decorate inside yet because the Builder is coming tomorrow to tear down the living room ceiling. I know, I know I get to have all the fun-NOT!!!!
More decoration pictures to follow when the Builder gets out of our house.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving! If you are traveling, be safe. If you are having dinner with your loved ones and/or friends, enjoy yourself. Just remember to give thanks for everything you have in this life.
I will be spending a wonderful Thanksgiving with our daughter, Jenny, her husband, Kevin and the grandboys! I am very thankful for that. I will be cooking and baking. Kevin is making the green beans and they are bringing rolls too. I can't wait to enjoy all the lovely cooking smells, the turkey roasting in the oven, cinnamon, spices, apple pie and pumpkin pie! I just love it!! Jenny and her family are coming early enough to watch the parade on TV with John and I.
John and I have alot to be thankful for! It is always nice to take a day to reflect on what we have and how thankful we are for what we have. You can never be too thankful!
Enjoy your day no matter how you are spending it!!!

The Weekend
I had a really great weekend. Friday night John and I tried a new BBQ place. While the Pulled Pork and fixings were good, the place was way over priced and the BBQ was only slightly warm.
Saturday, we got up later than normal. We made a nice breakfast together. Then we headed on out to do a major grocery shopping. Since I had gone to Aldi's headquarters on Friday for work, I decided to go the Aldi's in Indian Trail. We got alot of groceries for not much $$. We then proceeded to Harris Teeter to get just a few things. We paid double what we had paid at Aldi's and we got only about 1/4 of the groceries we got at Aldi's. We headed home and put everything away. I then proceeded to wash all the wood floors in the house! They look marvelous!!
Here are some Fall flowers we got at Harris Teeter:
Then John and I had a great dinner. Scallop and shrimp scampi, rice and salad (the lettuce is from my winter garden).
Then John fixed some firewood in the fire pit. We watched the full moon come up amongst the pines in the backyard.
Sunday we had breakfast with Jenny, Kevin and the grandboys! Love having breakfast with them. The boys have colds-poor little babies.
When we came home I blocked the Morticia Shawl I made. Here it is all blocked.
There are over 1,000 beads on the shawl!!!
Then I made a pan of ziti for one of the guys in our office. He and his wife just had a baby. John made chocolate chip cookies. His favorite!! Then I knitted for a while. Then John and I watched TV until bedtime. What a great day!!

Saturday and Sunday
Friday one of my co-workers gave me four small eggplants. Well I love eggplant parm, so guess what I made on Saturday....
So yummy!!!
Today Jenny and the grandboys came for a visit. We had so much fun! Jenny dressed Jack up like a skeleton and a bumblebee. He was ok with the skeleton costume, not really loving the bumblebee costume. Owen was loving showing Papa toys in the toy catalog that came from Target. He also had fun riding his little car out in our front yard.
I have been working on a mystery knit along and I am about 75% done. This is called the Morticia Shawl. It is from Boo Yarns. I love the yarn-it is Tussah Silk and hand dyed by Debbie Davis at The Fibre Studio in the South Park section of Charlotte.
The yarn looks more pink but it is a rusty red color. Just gorgeous. I have to block this yet so you will be able to see the pattern more clearly after I do that.
Hope everyone had an awesome weekend, I know I did!

Sunday Drive and walk around the house and outside 10/20/13
Today I was feeling much better after not feeling good on Friday. Feeling better now! Today John took me on a drive to Lake Norman. It is about 35 mins. from our house. The weather is just beautiful in the Charlotte area today! Lovely Carolina blue skies. It took 2 pictures of the Lake and then we saw this huge (and I mean huge) house on the Lake. See below:
This is one house people!! We couldn't believe it!! There is an actual Rapunzel-looking turret along the side on the right in the back, you can just barely make it out in the picture. Unbelieveable!!!
When we came home I decided to do some Autumn decorating around the house. Here are some things I did:
Here is the fireplace all decked out in fall attire.
Closeup of the mantel.
I had to put this little witch, black cat and pumpkins out. Owen and even little Jack will like them. I have had these little wooden pieces for about 20 years!
Some more decorations.
I love this pumpkin pie cupboard I've got in the Dining Room. I decided to put some bittersweet vine (not real) by the swan and I hung a primitive wooden ghost on the latch.
I think this is one of my favorite pictures! The sunlight on the Dining Room table was just beautiful!!
I headed outside and here are some photos I took:
These are my knock out roses by the steps:
This one is an antique rose.
My Camelia in the front yard has tons of buds on it!! I can't wait until later in the Fall when they start blooming!
This was the little violas I planted a few weeks ago, they are doing so well and look so happy!!
The next three photos and the last ones for today are of my lemon tree. I brought my lemon tree in the house last week and now it is loaded with little white buds!!! I can't wait until they open because they are so fragrant! Hopefully it will mean more lemons too!
Here is one of the 2 lemons I have left. Remember the squirrels took the other 2! Dirty little animals! Hopefully those 2 will hang on for the next 7-8 months and they will be ripe enough to pick and use. I love Meyers Lemons!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!!
