The weather today started out really cold! 34 degrees in Mint Hill, NC in April (especially towards the end of April) is almost unheard of!! When I left work for the day, it was so nice out and had warmed up to a lovely 69 degrees! When I got home I remembered that John was going to a hockey game with our oldest daughter, Megan. That left me the whole night almost alone!! I made myself a seafood salad sandwich, watch some HGTV and then I took a really wonderful walk around the yard. I couldn't believe in just a few days how many things changed in my garden! The white iris are blooming beautifully in the front garden, the roses out front are bloom away and smelling wonderful and the hostas and ferns look like they have exploded from the warmth from the sun. Atleast the warmth of the sun during the day because the nights have been pretty chilly. Here are some lovelies I took photos of on my walk.
My lovely hosta. I think this is called Avocado. |
Another hosta favorite. I think this one is Guacamole. |
Peony getting ready to bloom. |
First time my peach/pink iris is going to bloom. |
My lovely pink rose by the front porch rail. |
I just love this double impatient. I have this in a hanging basket on the back of the house. |
I love rosebuds and the sun kissed this one. |
Another beautiful rosebud. |
Our tulip tree is dropping their flowers on the lawn now. |
My white iris are blooming. The fragrance is just intoxicating. |
Because it is so cold at night I brought in my Gardenia Tree (standard). Here are some photos I took tonight after dinner. The house smells so lovely. Reminds me of my grandmother.
I just might frame this photo! |
I think gardenias have about 100 shades of cream in their coloring. |
This is my fav photo of this beauty! |
