Today 33 yrs ago today John and I were married. John was 25 and I was 20. We were living in NJ and we were married in John's hometown. We were married at 11 a.m. and then had a reception afterwards. Where has the time gone!! It just feels like yesterday that we were walking down the aisle (and it was a really long one!!). Now we have 2 grown and married children, 2 son-in-laws and one lovely little grandson! Last night we celebrated our anniversary with the girls, their hubbies and little Owen! Megan, our oldest daughter, made us a wonderful cake! One half was chocolate for John and the other half was lemon for me!! Here is a photo of the cake she made:
Thanks Meg-it was wonderful!!! You are one talented girl!!
Today John and I slept late, went to lunch at Hawthorne's in Mint Hill (that is the town our new house is being built in), went to check out the cleared lot and now we are home relaxing together! A perfect day in my book!
Here is a few pictures of the lot all cleared and ready to be built on:
We had some very heavy rains and the lot is pretty muddy. They will be pouring the footings soon and starting the foundation. Can't wait until the day we move into our new home! Apartment life is getting old, but atleast we have a place to stay until the house is done.
I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!!
Sherri- Happy, Happy Anniversary. It sounds like you had a wonderful day and I love your cake. It looks like they are making progress on your lot. You said footings? Do they not put in basements in your area? I know lots of places don't...but here you have to for building codes. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana! There won't be a basement in the new house. Most of the houses here in Charlotte don't have basements. Our house will be on a raised slab with a stem wall. It will look like we have a basement but we actually won't.
ReplyDeleteA happy anniversary to you both.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherri- my sincere congrats on your anniversary!! Truly- 33 years is a magnificent accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that work is starting on your house-- it's going to be so exciting for you to watch as your home is built! Hope you will be in by the holidays!

Congratulations Sherri and John - I always love to hear of couples who have weathered the storms a marriage often brings over many years, but go on and on celebrating life together! Your cake is adorable - and I love how Meg made it half and half - I'd go with lemon too!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see your lot being prepared - I know you will stay busy going back and forth to watch construction during the coming months......a thrilling time.
Hugs - Mary
