Hi Everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful day today! I have some happy news - I am moving to SC to be closer to my kids and grandsons! I had been eyeing a house in Lake City, SC for some time on Realtor.com. The price was dropped and I went and looked at it. I love it! I made an offer that day and after some intense negotiation, I GOT IT!! I came home and put my house on the market and it went under contract after 3 days! I've had the home inspection at the new house and there are a few things that need to be taken care of (the house was built in 1979). The inspection was done on my house today and the appraisal will be done tomorrow. I have a March 31st closing date on my house, the new house will be right after that. So many things to think about, but I'm not letting it get to me. Here are some photos of the new house:
This is the front of the house.
This is the driveway side of the house.
This is also the den, but there are French doors that go out to the screened in porch. I love the screened in porch's floor-it's brick!!
This is the view from the den into the backyard. I don't know why the previous owner has a brass chandelier in here, that will have to be replaced. I will be replacing those lovely curtains too!! I am going to paint the wainscoting and the trim bright white. Not sure what color I'm going to paint the walls. Something that isn't yellow will definitely be chosen :)!!
This is the Dining Room, which is the front of the house. When you walk through the front door, the Dining Room is to the right off of the foyer. It will be nice to have a dining room again!
This is the back part of the living. You can also access the screened in porch from this room. There is a little fireplace in here also. It is across from this couch. I just love the layout of all the rooms.
This is the Master Bedroom. Carpet and cornices will be going. Hoping there is hardwood floors under this awful carpet, but if not I may just recarpet with a lighter, fresh color.

It looks like a great house! I am so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI taught in Lake City in the 90’s
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home. Congratulations. It'll be nice for you to be near your family. I'm sure you're happy about that. I'll take that chandelier if you don't want it.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I'm really happy about the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteI love love South Carolina
ReplyDeleteI graduated college in my 40’s and went to junior high to teach Lake City first job
From WV
I lived in Florence... more convenient
I had been to Myrtle Beach a million times already...
After one year I did NOT like teaching junior high although loved the students
Taught two years at Marlboro high in Bennettsville and lived there
Loved it but Lake City invited me to teach at their high school
Lived in Lake City
Not much there but loved teaching at the high school and liked teaching in the prison at. Night
My daughter was expecting first grand in Indiana so I moved to WV to teach to be closer
However my years in SC were fantastic
I moved to Indy here 3 years ago to help home school as am retired
Well time for 31st move
The grands here almost all in college and little boys in Florida want Nana to come
Heaven knows where I will end up next
We raised our kids in Ohio so moving is easy
A house. Not really
Prefer apts and condos at this age
Enjoy SC and esp Lake City close to the beach
Lots of good paces to visit and eat at Myrtle
Congratulation on the move! I'm so happy for you, Sherri. What a gorgeous home! Can't wait to follow along with your projects!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures - they help me visualize you there - I am so very excited for you my friend
ReplyDeleteHouse and property look beautiful Sherri - you are going to have a lot of fun there.
ReplyDeleteSome people move a lot - in fact I just read about a blogger who has moved 85 times over her lifetime - military childhood and then marriage!!!! I bet she never had time to decorate, collect, or even have a life, lol!
Good luck dear, hope all goes well with this new move.
Mary -
OH MY GOSH!!! I am in awe! That is a spectacularly gorgeous house. You're going to love it. How wonderful that you were able to buy and sell so easily.
ReplyDeleteDear Sherri:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of your new home. How exciting that you'll be moving closer to your children. I'm sure it will be wonderful to be so close to your grands. I know how difficult it is to move...especially if you love books. Mine are all still in boxes because we have no shelves for the (yet). Other priorities before that.
Take care of yourself as you prepare for this next adventure.
Big hugs,
xoxo
