Well we went to a wedding Saturday night and the USC Gamecock mascot joined us for the reception! We have never been to a wedding with a twist like that at the reception. The mascot took up most of the dance floor. Very different wedding/reception that's for sure!

I had my golf outing for work yesterday and I must say I am an awesome putter!! The other 3 guys on my team played "me" (they did my driving since I can't do that yet). They kept saying I'm Cheryl now, then they argued a little towards the end about who was me! They are a bunch of crazy guys! It was tons of fun but I was definitely tired last night and slept really well!

Well I'm not a grandmother yet but I do have a granddog now!!! Jenny and Kevin adopted Cash from the Charlotte Humane Society yesterday. What a cutie pie!!! He is named after Johnny Cash, whom Jenny and Kevin really like (which I didn't know). Cash is half Schipper and half Eskimo Dog. What a wonderful little thing!

So you can see my dress, this is a picture of Tawny, Jenny, Shawna, Devyn and myself before we left the house to go to the wedding. We were all in my bedroom waiting for the bride to get ready and my sister snapped this picture.

Just wanted to share a picture of the tree peony I'm growing in my back yard. It opened yesterday and it is gorgeous!!! It just started to rain a bit so I bet it won't be this gorgeous for long!

I'm reading Bull's Island by Dorothea Benton Frank now. I went to a book signing of hers last night and she had us all rolling in the aisle and tears streaming down our faces! She is an awesome person. Bull's Island made it to #9 on the NY Best Sellers List this week! This book is about an island off of South Carolina and as Dot puts it the characters in the books are all liars! She said the name of the book should have just been "Bull"! She said there is a big ol' bull alligator living on the island (for real she saw it) and he has a girlfriend! Dot is a member of the SC conservancy committee and she is working with everyone on the committee to preserve the environment. I hope everyone who reads this book enjoys it as much as her other books! I know I will. She told us she is now writing a sequel to Sullivan's Island! Can't wait for that one to come out!!

Here is a picture of Megan with Jenny on the steps of our church. They were having fun posing all sorts of funny ways but this one was a serious one. I thought they looked beautiful in this one!

Flocke the cutest polar bear cub!! I love this little bear! I have been following her since she was born on Dec. 11th. She was abandoned by her mother the same as Knut, the other polar bear born in Berlin and was made such a big deal about! What is wrong with those mothers anyway! She lives in Berlin in the Nuremberg Zoo and she made her debut this afternoon! What a cutie pie!!

Here is the jewelry I made for Megan's bridesmaids. I used light sapphire Swarovski crystals for the earrings and necklaces. Megan's necklace is at her house so I'll have to wait until she has it on. The necklaces look so much better on someone but no one is home right now but me!

Here is the little black dress I made for Jenny. It has to be hemmed yet and the little belt with the buckle needs to be added. I'll switch out the picture when it is totally done. Hope she likes it!

LADY OF MILKWEED MANOR

I'm reading this book now. I just started it but it is good so far. Here is a review on Amazon:

From Publishers Weekly
In this inspirational historical romance debut novel set in 19th-century England, a young pregnant woman is forced to make difficult choices. Twenty-year-old Charlotte Lamb is the daughter of a heartless English vicar, as we discover when she becomes pregnant and he throws her out of her childhood home. Vulnerable and unprotected, she is forced to a lodging place for unwed mothers. Soon, Lamb must make decisions involving true love and sacrifice, providing many powerful turning points throughout the story. Although Klassen occasionally lapses into back-to-back dialogue, her prose is generally smooth, and Charlotte has the reader's sympathy from the earliest pages. The amount of information about wet nurses, lactation and breastfeeding can become weighty, although often intriguing (such as the practice of using goats to directly feed foundling infants to avoid the spread of syphilis). Faith themes are subtly woven throughout. The reader will need to suspend disbelief to enjoy some of the plot twists, especially the happily-ever-after ending, which provides the redemptive conclusion common to Christian fiction. A bonus is the milkweed poetry, lore and symbolism knitted into the narrative. Both readers of faith fiction and general readers of historical romance should enjoy this lovely first offering from Klassen. (Jan.)Cut to the Quick (reviewed Oct. 29) will be published in July 2008.
