Megan's Birthday 1/27/14
(Megan and Ken)
I am a bad mother! I forgot to post on my blog about Megan's birthday yesterday! I posted on FB, I sent her a text but I forgot to post on here. Megan turned 33 yesterday! I cannot believe that much time has gone by. I remember when she was little just like it was yesterday! Sunday night we had the whole family over to celebrate and celebrate we did!! I made one of Megan's favorite dinners: Chuck Roast, mashed potatoes, peas, beer bread and the dessert was cheesecake with cherry on top! She like her present from John and I: David Yurman style ring, sparklie earrings, $25 Amazon gift card, those little squares for her Scentsy warmer and a cute bag that was monogrammed for the beach or pool!
Our little girl has certainly grown up! Love you Megs!! xxoo

Master Bedroom all Painted!!
Two weekends ago John and I painted our Master Bedroom and Master Bath. I chose Valspar paints. I did the wall behind our bed in a medium gray and the other 3 walls in a lighter gray. Then the Master Bath was painted in a robin egg blue. We are so happy with the way both rooms turned out! Here are some photos:
Next we need to decide what we are going to do about our furniture in our room. The furniture we have now is very "chunky" and we would like to change that. I'm thinking of bringing my antique dresser back in our room but I would your Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on it first. I definitely want different nightstands. We are probably going to move up to a King-size bed too! I love decorating and making this house ours!!

Winter has Definitely Arrived in the South!!!
Well when I woke up today it was 10 degrees with a wind chill making it seem more like zero!! I know the more North you go the colder it gets. I have lived here for 9 years and this is definitely the coldest winter so far. When you are in the sun and the wind isn't blowing it isn't too bad, but when the wind picks up and the sun goes down it is mighty cold!
I am work now but I really wish I was in bed, all wrapped up with a cup of tea and a good book or my knitting. I guess that is what I'll be doing tonight!!
Everyone stay warm, make sure your pets don't stay outside too long (if you have pets) and just play snuggle up!!

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
I am sorry I haven't gotten on here to wish you all a Happy New Year until now! I hope everyone has an awesome 2014!!! I had my grandsons (ages 2 1/2 yrs. and 8 mos. old) New Year's Eve until around 11:00 on New Year's Day. They are both so sweet and we had a really great visit! The rest of New Year's Day I napped, knitted, read and watched movies with John.
I usually don't make resolutions, but I did promise myself to read more, keep on knitting and learning new things with knitting, lose weight, enjoy life more, go to the Beach for a week this year and try and reduce stress in my life.
I reflected on things that had happened to me in 2013 and here are a few things that I remembered as being a highlight:
1. The birth of my second grandson, Jack. A huge thing in our life. He is such a sweet baby boy!
2. The Builder of our new home finally listened to us and our structural engineer and corrected the floor joist issue in our home. It took a year but it is finally fixed and we can move on.
3. John started a new job with a title company in the Ballantyne section of Charlotte and he really likes it and they like him!
4. We had most of my family visiting this summer to meet little Jack.
There were many other things in 2013, but these were the most memorable!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/New Year's holiday season. I also wish that everyone has a wonderful 2014!!
