We got up and drove up to Concord to have breakfast with Jenny and Owen. We went to Concord Family Restaurant. Owen flirted with all the waitresses!! He was so funny! They loved him to pieces! We went to Frank Liske Park after breakfast. They have a beautiful lake there so we put Owen in his stroller and walked around the entire lake. It was a beautiful day here today. Lower temps and no humidity just gorgeous!!
After we left Jenny and Owen at their house, we headed back down to Mint Hill to see what progress was made during the week on our new house. The foundation is all done and we had a surprise. We thought we were going to be on a slab and they decided we needed to have a crawl space. A crawl space was an extra $11,000 but since they told us we didn't have to pay for the crawl space because it was their error it made it even more awesome!! We walked around the lot and place some things like the patio, front garden, wood garden, etc. What fun! The birds were chirping and there is alot of shade in the backyard, which is really great! Here are some photos I took today:
Foundation from the street.
Foundation up close from the back of the lot.
Closeup of inside the foundation.
This is the front porch foundation.
The is a shot from the side yard, you can see some of the beautiful house across the street. It has a porch upstairs and downstairs-really beautiful!
After we left the lot we drove closer to up town Charlotte and we went to the Southern Home Show. John and I walked up and down all the aisles looking at kitchens, granite, and all sorts of house things. I really loved looking at all the landscaping booths. There were so many garden ponds dealers! They were all so beautiful!
So that was our day! I was really tired after we got home and had dinner I fell asleep on the couch for about an hour. We a great day we had!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
It sounds like you had a great family day. Your house is coming along! So, does your area not build on deep basements then? Is there a layer of concrete poured between the pilings or does it remain packed dirt? Construction in other areas always fascinates me. It is code here that you HAVE to have a basement. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see your house start to take shape! I will look forward to all of the progress.
ReplyDeleteDiana, we were suppose to have a concrete slab but the crawl space will just be packed dirt. We will have someone come and seal it after the house is done. Basements are very rare here in the South.
ReplyDeleteSo very much fun!!
ReplyDeleteWow, they've really made progress on the house!
ReplyDeleteI love this! This is so much fun! I hope you'll keep posting on the progress.
