Here is more of the "Lion" beginning of March!
I opened the door to the back screened porch and this is what I saw this morning! We own a little bit of the woods, the Country Club owns the rest of the woods to the 3rd hole on their golf course. The golf course has a pond on it and that overflowed its banks and cascaded into the woods. We have never had the water come into our yard but it came close one time when they were working on the golf course. They had dammed up the pond and it rained for 2 days, the water overflowed the dam they had made, came into the woods and up to our sod in the backyard! We have flood insurance just in case something happens. Thank goodness we have never had to use it!
The flooding from the pond on the golf course has also cascaded into our neighbors yard. They actually have more flooding than we do.
This is the view of our backyard from the landing on the second story. You can see the flooding in the yard.
The rain has blown so hard and it pelted all these lovely little raindrops all over my clean windows! The realtor suggested I clean all the windows, even though they weren't dirty. She said people love sparkling windows. I had told her the rains hadn't come through yet and she said to do it anyway! Well I wish I had waited. I have 42 windows in my house and it takes me forever to clean all of them! Oh well!

You really do have a gorgeous house. Somebody will snap it up in no time. It must be painful to let itgo.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad theres no damage, but seriously we dream of this!
ReplyDeleteBTW why exactly do you want to move from this fab home!?
I have to be super gentle w/ our windows. The glass is over 100 years old and very think. I'll be washing and crack! Augh!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could send some of that rain our way.
ReplyDeleteAll that standing water. Everybody is have crazy weather this spring. We missed the last snow but are scheduled for heavy rains mid week.

Hi Sherri :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you didn't get any damage from the rains, but I feel awful that you have to clean the windows again.
I've learned one thing on this selling nightmare... no one is going to turn away from your house for something as petty as that. They weren't going to buy the house anyway and they just want something to pick on if they mention it. Keep that in mind so you don't go crazy like I did ;)

Rue, thanks for that advice. I'm going to take my time cleaning the windows again. I am going to wait until the Spring rains (and now snow) is done! John does alot of the windows with me (we have tilt in and sometimes they are too hard for me to get open) but it is still alot of work!
ReplyDeleteSarah, we love the house but it is too big for us now with the girls gone. Also I would love a smaller mortgage.
Maggie-the Victorian we owned in NJ had 75 yrs. old window glass and that was always tricky washing them too, so I can sympathize with you!
