Well I just can't believe it! My Mom called me last night and said that my Dad had been misdiagnosed for 15 yrs. He does not have Lupus or Diabetes. That is correct he doesn't have either one!! I am happy for him that he doesn't have either one but I am so mad that his Dr. told him he did have those 2 things. He has Multiple Spinal Stenosis with severe Neuropathy. He will be seeing a specialist in NYC as soon as he can get an appointment. He will be having extensive PT also. Now we just have to wait and see what the specialist in NYC says. Atleast we know that he has a long journey, but it isn't life threatening but it is crippling. What a shame he wasn't diagnosed from the beginning because then he wouldn't be in the shape he is in now.
FYI: My Dad's original Dr. died 2 yrs. ago from a massive heart attack at the age of 52, so he can't even tell him what is going on and that his other patients should be checked out.
Thanks everyone for all your cares, concerns, thought and prayers. Keep them coming!! I'm sure he will need it! HUGS to all of you!!!
Wow! I'm so happy for your family and your father. Maybe now he can get some relief with proper therapy. Best wishes for some improvement.

I'm glad the diagnosis is now correct, but what a lot of wasted time. Best of luck with the new specialist. Thoughts and prayers directed toward recovery!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for answers, Sherri! I will continue to pray for your family as you go on this journey. Please keep us posted, dear friend... Lori
ReplyDeleteSherri, it's terrible when something like this happens. I hope now he will get the treatment he needs. Praying for him.

Oh, Sherri, that's good news but probably quite frustrating for your Dad. I hope he can get an appointment very soon!
ReplyDeleteSherri I'm sorry to hear that your father's condition was misdiagnosed for so many years! I've had my own issues with misdiagnosis so I feel for him and for your entire family. Now that you know, hopefully the specialist can get him the treatment he needs!

Thanks everyone for all your great posts! My Dad has a long road ahead of him but I'm glad he doesn't have Lupus or Diabetes!! I just get so mad when I think about this misdiagnosis and how many other people this Dr. misdiagnosed!! My Dad could have ended up in a wheel chair and total unable to do anything for himself. Hopefully his new therapy, etc. will make that a reality and he will improve some what. They Dr. yesterday told him he will never be 100% better. Thanks for the continued prayers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing-in a back-handed sort of way. It happens so often that people are misdiagnosed and then suffer the consequences. I will continue to pray for your dad- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Sherri, You & your family are in my thoughts!....We are all hoping there will be encouraging news for your dad!....Love, Heidi XO

Amazing that all these years he has been misdiagnosed. Sad really. Sending light and love that he will now get the proper care.
