The horrors of Truvia!! Everyone should read this!

I have been having problems with my left ankle swelling (I'm talking 2.5 the size it should be). I have been to the Dr. 2 times now and had blood work on Monday. On Saturday I was thinking back to when the swelling began (I estimate about 1.5 months ago). The swelling started out slowly and then WOW it got pretty bad. Then over the weekend it would get red and blotchy and start itching like crazy. My poor little toes looked like sausages. I remembered I switched from Sweet 'N Low to Truvia. Just for hahas I looked up adverse effects of Truvia-well did I have my eyes opened!! I have thrown out the Truvia I had at home and work and I will never use that stuff ever again! Someone on the comment board likened Truvia to "liquid poison ivy"!! There are so many side effects, that I would never take it again. If you have a free moment, go to google and put in adverse side effects to Truvia and you will have your eyes opened wide for you!! Now I'm not saying that everyone will have these effects, but it does seem an awful lot of people are having some or all the effects. One of the guys I worked with said their dog got into some Truvia and almost died! The dog only licked one big lick of the Truvia and he almost died-that certainly tells you how safe this product is. Coca-Cola has started using this in their diet drinks also. Won't be drinking any of that! Now these opinions are just my own but I would think everyone would want to know how this product affects some people.

Hopefully you won't ever experience the terrible side effects of this product that I have!

Wow!Thanks for sharing! I was considering using Truvia! I was using Splenda and it caused me to have really bad headaches. I think I'll just go sugar-free..healthier anyway.

Yikes. I guess it's a good thing I don't go for "substitutes". I eat the real thing and just try to limit how much. Real sugar. Real butter.

Tina-headaches and migraines have been experienced by some Truvia users too.

GardenofDaisies-I use real butter and I should have stuck to real sugar. I use the brown raw sugar now and only that!

Yikes! We bought some when our son was visiting to try it and none of us liked it. It is still in the cabinet and now I am going to throw it out. Thanks Sherri!

Sorry for the side effects you experienced, Sherri! I haven't used Truvia and now I'll steer clear of it. I don't drink soda but I'll watch for it in any other foods, etc. Thanks for the warning!

Awful! But not surprising. Personally I would use real sugar. I don't believe in artificial foods. I would guess there are a whole slew of ailments, some light and some more serious, which are caused by what people ingest.

I think the entire low calorie sugar free thing is killing our society. Real sugars are the way to go if you want to sweeten something consider cane sugar, maple syrup, honey. These won't poison you.
You just have to use things in moderation.
I love sweet stuff. Apples bananas strawberries grapes just to name a few . :-D
Sugar is not bad for you as part of a healthy diet.

Truvia is not toxic to dogs... However xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs.

I used Truvia for months. I was always health conscious and thought this would be healthier than eating sugar. I worked out at least 4 days a week and was physically fit. One day I noticed that I had a slight back ache, it kept getting more painful. I went to a chiropractor and he didn't give me any relief. I started having joint pains and over-all weakness. This continued on, doctors couldn't find any reason . I was so weak and so full of pain that I didn't even try to leave the house. I was in agony, my muscles quit working. I was looking on Facebook and read a post about how Truvia should be used for an insecticide, because fruit flies would eat it and lose their ability to fly and quickly die. It was like a light went off in my brain, I knew that it was the Truvia. I stopped using it and within a week I started feeling better. I'm going to a physical therapist and he's helping me get my muscles to come back alive. Thank God, I'm getting better every day.

My husband, John and I went to Ireland for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. We had an awesome trip and we will never forget it. We actually got to visit our friends who live in Northern Ireland. We spent 3 wonderful days with them! The picture above was taken when we visited The Ring of Kerry. The beauty of Ireland is just spectacular! If you ever get a chance visit there.
Megan is my oldest daughter. She and Ken were married on April 12, 2008. It was a wonderful ceremony and reception!
