New House is a Go!!

John and I just found out yesterday afternoon that the builder accepted our offer and we will be in our new house October 1st!! Of course, we have to get our mortgage commitment (we have our Pre-Qualification now). We are so excited and I can't wait to start planning my decorating of this home!! I'm going to have our oldest daughter, Megan help with picking out everything at the Design Center. She has her degree in Interior Design and will be really helpful with the choices. The House we chose is the St. James Plan, which is a 2 story Craftsman style home. It has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, bonus room, dining room, great room, office, kitchen and a laundry room with a folding table! The lot is 1 acre and is wooded. I cannot wait to have my own gardens (flower and vegetable) again! We will be living in Mint Hill not Charlotte, which is in the same county as we are now. I love the name Mint Hill. There is a cute town center there.

The people we are renting from are not sticking to what they told us and shame on us for not getting this in writing. They had told us that when we decided to buy a house, they wouldn't hold us to the lease and they would find a new renter. Well things have changed. At first they said we had to stay another year and that would satisfy the lease. They have now softened up a little and said if the Management Company finds another renter, they will let us out and give us our deposit back or let us use it for the last months rent. John and I aren't taking any chances. We are having them list the house for rent as of 5/1. John and I can move to a small apt. in the area until our house is ready. We would put almost everything in storage and only take absolutely necessities with us. I don't care how many times we have to move just as long as we get the house we want. It has been a really long 4 years for us, but I finally feel we are seeing the light and becoming home owners again!! YAY for us!!

You can tell I'm a builder's daughter, I just love the thought of building a house. I know there are alot of things that go on during this time period but I love it!!
