Books Galore!

Yesterday I hit pay dirt at Borders and Barnes and Noble! There have been a few books I wanted to buy and yesterday I took my gift cards and bought them! I only had to add $10.00 and I bought 4 books-I didn't think that was too bad.

I bought Dorothea Benton Frank's new book at B&N (Borders was out of it already). I have read every book she has ever written. I just love the lowcountry so this should be a wonderful read!

Next at B&N was Needles and Pearls by Gil McNeil. I read her first book called The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club. I loved that book! Hope this one is as good or better than that one!

Then there was On Folly Beach by Karen White also purchased at B&N. I have wanted to read that book since it came out. John and I will be going to Folly Beach in August so I might save it and read it there!

Then at Borders I had gone to a book signing by Janet Evanovitch but Borders changed the way they do book signings for her. She was 45 mins. late and then they just had her sign books and no pre-speech or interaction. You weren't allowed to say much of anything to her when she signed your book either! How are you suppose to get to know the author or find out why she writes! I was highly disappointed! They also gave out numbered wrist bands and I had 233 people ahead of me. I couldn't expect to make DH wait that long and I didn't want to wait that long after working hard all day so we left and had some dinner at Nothing But Noodles. He then suggested on going over to B&N, which I wasn't going to turn down!! We had a lovely night. I'm so glad he will be working regular hours again Monday-Friday 9-5!

Everyone have a lovely weekend!

I just ordered Janet Evanovich's new book. Since she will never be coming to our little town, I ordered from amazon.

They all look wonderful! I hate to admit it, but I do judge a book by it's cover and these look amazing! Please let me know what you think, Sherri!:) Lori

Sherri, I just added McNeil's first book to my tbr list. Glad to get the recommendation! I have On Folly Beach on my list and won the book at Bonnie's blog (so excited!). Sorry JE was a disappointment. I can't believe she didn't talk at all! She could have at least explained why she was late. Re: the wristbands. Borders did that for Debbie Macomber. There were hundreds of people there by the time I arrived so I didn't bother with a wristband and just stayed for her short talk. It has to be tiring to these authors on tour. I know they appreciate their readers. Wish JE could have come through a little more for her fans though. Have a good weekend and enjoy those new books!

These all look like great books, Sherri. I made note of them so I can check them out next time I'm at the book store.

Enjoy your weekend!

How fun! I have read several of Dorothea Benton Frank's books and enjoy her style of writing. I didn't know she had a new one out.

I grew up in the Lowcountry! I didn't know there was a book On Folly Beach. We spent many summer days out there.
That's so disappointing about Janet Evanovitch's book signing. Glad you ended up having a good night, it sounds lovely.

I can't wait to check out these books. I love to knit, so the ones about knitting sound fun! I just ordered The Help. I hear it is really good. I love to have several great books for our week at the beach. Love & blessings from NC!

Sounds like the perfect day. I love going to the bookstore. I also love Dorothea Benton Frank! I haven't read that one yet, I will have to download it to my Nook.

Those are fantastically clear photographs! How did you do that, Sherri? I've read one book by Karen White - The House on Tradd Street and liked it very much.

Nan, I go to goodreads.com and search for the book and then I save the picture and then post it on my blog.

Oh my, first off I am drooling over your header. It's gorgeous.

What a great lot of books. On Folly Beach is really good - I hope you'll like it. I just bought Needles and Pearls the other day plus the first book in the series. Of course I haven't had the chance to read them yet but couldn't resist buying them. lol.

Ring of Kerry, Ireland
My husband, John and I went to Ireland for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. We had an awesome trip and we will never forget it. We actually got to visit our friends who live in Northern Ireland. We spent 3 wonderful days with them! The picture above was taken when we visited The Ring of Kerry. The beauty of Ireland is just spectacular! If you ever get a chance visit there.
Megan is my oldest daughter. She and Ken were married on April 12, 2008. It was a wonderful ceremony and reception!
Jenny and Kevin at their wedding 8/30/08. The wedding was at our home and turned out wonderful! Everyone had such a good time!
