My Bookclub was Great!

My Bookclub read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and tonight we met and discussed it. We had a really great discussion. Everyone liked the book but some of the subject matter bothered everyone. We couldn't believe the children all lived! It was really great to listen to everyone discussing this story.

I won this book tonight! I almost won Knit Two but the person next to me won it. The Knitting Circle was on my to read list and now I've got it to add to my pile of reading!

We are skipping December because of everyone's schedules and obligations. We are meeting in January to discuss Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo. I'm anxious to read it. It is suppose to be very good.

February we will be meeting at a little book store near to where I work and we'll be meeting an author. Can't remember the book or author right now.

  1. I have the Glass Castle - bought it over a year ago, but have not read it yet. I need to get it out and put it where I'll remember it!

How did they have books to giveaway there? That sounds interesting...was it a book exchange?

  3. Bonnie-Every time we meet the "leader" of our bookclub either has us draw names for a book or she just puts books out on the table and lets us choose what we want. I don't know where she works but it is book related. I'll have to find out. The next book should be good as well.

  8. I have always wanted to be in a book club, but I'm such a slow reader... I'll have to try this book...

Just FYI, Breyer makes christmas ornaments and a special edition Christmas horse each year. I buy mine at: www.handhwc.com. It's always a pleasure to talk to a fellow Breyer lover!

  10. Oh, The Glass Castle was an amazing story- truly. How DID they survive?? And to not be bitter.... I am amazed at how she made her own braces, among other things. I love the idea of being able to win a book, too! Good for you! I LOVE books. Your home looks so lovely, and I am certain that it will sell soon!:) Lori

  11. I belong to a book club also and really enjoy it. Our "leader" has assigned each of us a month where we choose for that month. It works well and everyone has an opportunity to select a book. We just finished, "The Shack". It was great. We have a holiday party in December, but no book discussion. Our January selection is, "Pillars of the Earth". We've read all sorts of things - some I like, some I don't, but it's a very enjoyable activity.
