Some People just like to put other people down!

My morning at work didn't start out very well. I was totally annoyed at one of my co-workers. Last week I had my erosion control seminar and class. I passed the test with a pretty high score. I surprised myself and got wonderful compliments from both my bosses. Today one of the Superintendents was in from the field and decided it was pick on Cheryl day! He told me he expected a better score from me and that basically a woman shouldn't be in this mans world!! He said alot of other things, which I won't bore you with but that is basically what it boiled down to. I know I am sensitive, but he crossed way over the line on this one. He kept at me for a few hours and finally I just turned around and explained that there always has to be one in every crowd who feels they have to belittle people just to make themselves look big and all important and it usually is to cover up for some inadequacy on their part. This is priceless-he asked what inadequacy meant --wahhahahahahahahaha! That made my day!! Cheryl is now off her soapbox!!

  4. Thanks Kay and Mary. Kay, I love your phrase "what a Supreme Idiot". I think I will use that every once in a while!

  5. I guess I would have reported him to my superior. Or maybe ask him if he's familiar with the ERA.

  6. What an awful encounter. What's wrong with him? I think his words are against some law and might even be harrassment? How dare he! I can't believe there are people like him in the world. I'm so sorry you had to deal with him but you did great!

  7. Nan and Marnie-you wouldn't think people still thought like that today would you. I run into alot of comments about women being in the commercial construction field. I usually brush it off, because it is said more joking than anything else. In this case it was just malicious!
