Jenny's Baby Sprinkle

Well the Sprinkle has come and gone and what fun we had!!  Even the rain wasn't going to keep us down!  Alot of people came, we ate, we had punch, Jenny opened presents, visited, chatted and overall had an awesome time!!

Here are some pictures:

These are the baby boy cupcakes Megan made.  They were yummy!!!

One of Megan's gifts to Jenny with this diaper, baby item motorcycle she made.  It was really cool!  Great job Megs!!!

Jenny and I.  Little Mama's reading to pop!!

Diaper wreath Megan and I made out of newborn diapers.  We had to keep it inside because of all the rain.  We were afraid the diapers would blow up like balloons in the moisture-LOL!!!

Megan made this maternity cake for Jenny!  She saw it on pinterest I think!  Talented girl!!

 Jenny opening some gifts.

A few of the decorations on the island in my kitchen.

Now we are just waiting for Baby Jack to arrive.  Her scheduled C-section is 4/19 but she sees the Dr. today.  The baby has dropped alot so maybe he will arrive a little early like Owen did!   Can't wait to hold him!  Owen is dealing with the baby items very well.  I wonder how he will react to being a big brother!

Long Week!

Did you ever just have a week that just never seemed to end!!  Well I have had just that week.  People at work weren't happy, Subcontractors on projects had problems, I would work all day and come home and paint, paint, paint until I couldn't paint anymore, etc., etc.  I am so thankful TGIF is here!!!  Tomorrow Megan and I will be shopping for Jenny's Baby Sprinkle.  Sunday is the actual Sprinkle so we will be cooking, preparing, etc. Tonight I will be heading home and then after getting a bite to eat I will be putting the final coat of paint on the bookcases my Dad built in our home office.  Hopefully late Saturday I will be able to put the books and knick knacks on there too!!  I will take photos and post for you to see the final creation!!

Everyone have a great weekend!!  Enjoy!!

Welcome First Day of Spring!

Welcome first day of Spring!!  It is chilly here today but the sun is out, which is always a good thing!  Yesterday when I was driving home it was 73 degrees.  We are expecting very cold weather the next few days and not such a great weekend weatherwise either, but Spring has sprung!

The Bradford Pear trees are blooming here in Charlotte and we've had daffodils blooming for about 3.5 weeks now.  The leaves are starting to form on some of the trees too!  Springtime is one of my favorite times of the year!

Enjoy!!

Painting, Painting and More Painting!!

I painted from about 7:00 a.m. on Saturday until about 6:30 p.m. Saturday night.  I am painting the bookcases my Dad made for our new home.  I should know better but I didn't prime the wood like I should have and I am paying the price!  I got 1 coat of white semi-gloss paint on the whole unit and there was alot of streaking.  I then started the second coat and there still is streaking.  I spoke with my painting Subcontractor at work and she is sending me a great primer to cover the entire piece and then paint with regular paint.  What a sweetheart she is!  I want to get them all done before Jenny's Baby Sprinkle on Sunday.

Here is what the piece looks like with 1 coat of paint.  As you can see I need alot more coverage.  They will be very nice when they are all done:

My grandson, Owen came in the afternoon and I told him I needed a painting leprechaun and he just laughed at me!  I was serious-LOL!!  I'll show you the finished product when I get there!

The Parents are on their way!!

My parents left NJ at 5:00 a.m. today!  They are coming for a short visit.  My Dad made bookcases with storage underneath with doors for our office.  It will take up one whole wall.  He made them in 6 different groups and when he gets here he will assembly them and they will look like built-ins.  I will be painting them this weekend semi-gloss white.  The walls will be painted a nice dusty blue either this weekend too or at some later date.  Can't wait to see the parents and the bookcases!!  My Dad always does a wonderful job and never ceases to amaze me with his creations.  I will take lots and lots of photos!

Everyone have an awesome day!!

Wild:From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed

I just finished this book and I really liked it alot!!  It isn't the type book I read, but I'm so glad I did.  Here is an exerpt from goodreads.com:

A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe—-and built her back up again.

At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—-and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Strayed faces down rattlesnakes and black bears, intense heat and record snowfalls, and both the beauty and loneliness of the trail. Told with great suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild vividly captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

My Take on the Book:

I thought Cheryl Strayed has alot of strength and beauty-both inside and out.  All the things Cheryl went through in her life and then to take on hiking the Pacific Crest Trail alone is absolutely amazing!!  There were times that I was afraid for her, I cried for her and was very proud of her!!  It just goes to show that if you just try something, you just might surprise yourself and be able to do it!!  I give this book 5 stars *****!!
