Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a really good weekend!  I went into Charleston with my 2 daughters, Megan and Jenny.  We went for lunch at The Butcher and Bee.  I had a Bee-LT and it was so good!  Jenny had ordered bacon-wrapped dates and we shared them because Megan doesn't like dates.  They were excellent!  We then left Charleston and stopped at a fabric store (the girls were making masks) and then did 2 more stops (Trader Joes and Costco).  We went back to Megan's house to drop off her food, etc. and then we headed back home.  It was a good day but I was really tired.

Saturday when I got home from Megan's the carpet guys were just finishing up the stairs and then they left.  I cannot believe what a difference the carpet makes!  I love that I am not walking on underlayment anymore!  I really don't love shoes, so walking barefoot is just wonderful again!  Here are some pictures:

The stairs were hard because they turn here at the bottom and they turn at the top also.  They did a great job.  I have to paint the white picture framing trim going up the stairs and the bannister.  I don't have stripes going up the stairs, that is the reflection of the bannister!

Up the stairs and a little turn.

This is the front guest room.  All that is in there now is an antique dresser.  The box that is in the right side of the photo is the mattress for the bed.

This is the upstairs hallway.

My room will need the other nightstand put together and some art work for sure.  It is looking good though.

The contractor hooked up my refrigerator and stove on Friday!!  That was major!  I actually fried myself and egg yesterday for the very first time!!  See photos below:

The hardwood flooring is all done now also!  You can see some of it in the kitchen but here are other photos of it.

This is the family room all done.  I guess I'll have to go rug shopping!

This is the space going into the half bath downstairs.

This is going into the kitchen.  That is where the stove was installed.

Things are really moving along!  Today the downstairs toilet will be installed, the dishwasher will be installed and the gas tankless water heater is being installed as I type this post!  There really isn't too much left.  The gutters, garage door and a few odds and ends and then it is complete!  I have been doing this since May 1st and I am to the point where it needs to end, but I have to say the house is looking really good!  I am so glad that I decided to take on this project.  Now the decorating part will start!  That is the FUN part!

Everyone have a wonderful day!

    1. Mary, you are so right-the fun part of the whole project! Today is the first day in 3 months without having someone banging on wood, running saws, having me move things out of the way, etc. I have taken the day off and I'm doing nothing! :)

  4. I have probably written this already...I loved loved teaching in Lake City. THe first year was at the junior high and not so much, but I fell in love with the kids who named me Keeper of the Stars after a song. I moved up to Bennettsville for two years and then was convinced to return to L C to teach at high school. I grad college 1994 and Masters 2007...one of oldest graduates. I am 73 lol...loved loved it
Went to finish my 18 l/2 years in WV, my hometown...to be near daughter in Indy with new grands. I just finished living three years in Indy...now with family here (my own place) but near these grands. I love love love your blog and your house is gorgeous. I have downsized and am a minimalist, so my big home is gone. However, you have a lovely one. Covid is rampant again, so we are being careful. Some of my family has it in other state...my immediate...they are vaccinated but here we go. Take care...enjoy your home.

    1. Thank you Brenda for saying I have a beautiful home. My friend, Angela substitutes here at Carolina Academy and sometimes a private academy in Kingstree. I moved here to be near my grandboys. They live in Scranton. I had downsized the house before but the house only had 2 bedrooms and wasn't in this area. When my oldest daughter would come up to stay, there wasn't enough room for everyone. There are 3 bedrooms here and that works for me and my family in NJ and here. Lots of visitors coming and going soon now that the house is done!
