Happy First Day of June!

Happy first day of June everyone!  I cannot believe the summer has started already!  Where does the time go!

I don't have alot planned for June, but as I'm saying this I am sure some things will come up.  I have some gardening plans at Scott's house.  I want to dig up a few of my daylilies from the SC house and bring them up to his house this weekend.  We are going down for Owen's play.  He is the narrator and at one point he is an extra townsperson.  The play is Beauty and the Beast Jr.  It should be fun!  Scott will be meeting Owen for the first time.

I was looking at all my flower pictures from last year at this time.  I'm hoping to re-create some of my gardens at Scott's.  He said do whatever I want to at the house.  He doesn't realize what he just unleashed LOL!!  Here are a few flowers from my garden in SC last year.

I just love flowers, they make me happy!  I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Alot Going on in May!

Hi Everyone!  I hope this blog post finds you all well.  I cannot believe the end of May will be here tomorrow!  Where did the time go.  There has been alot of things going on here.

Scott and I have been busy!  We went up to his property and planted 3 apple trees and 1 peach tree.

Here is one of the apple trees we planted.

I was so excited because the mountain laurel was blooming.  I love mountain laurel.  It was everywhere!  Here are a few photos of the mountain laurel and a few photos of the property.

This is an old tobacco barn on the property.

Scott driving the Massey Ferguson down to where we were going to plant the trees.  I'm following in the Ranger Polaris.

Beautiful Mountain Laurel blooming.

A lovely path through the woods up on the property.

Scott and I then went to NJ to visit my Mom, sister, Sue, her husband, Chuck, my nephew, Troy and his Fiancee, Ashe.  We spent 4 days up there (well really 3 because we left to come home on the 4th day).  We had a wonderful time with all of them.  They loved Scott also.  I showed Scott all around where I grew up.  We went out to dinner with my Mom and Sue to The Green Olive.  We also went through Stokes State Forest for a lovely drive and saw a bear (missed it with the camera-darn!).  We went passed all the houses I have lived in and got some yummy bagels, hard rolls and hoagie rolls to take back with us! It was such a wonderful time!

This is the brook by our old farm John and I owned.  It is an abandoned railroad bed.  Scott and I took a lovely walk by here.

Dame's Rockets growing along the abandoned rr bed.  So sweet smelling-just wonderful!

We had a visitor while we were walking.  She didn't even seemed bothered by us!

Mysel and sister, Sue (standing) my Mom sitting.  We were having dinner at The Green Olive.

This past Saturday all 3 of Scott's kids graduated from High School.  We are so proud of them.  The boys (Ben and Mason) are fraternal twins and Katelyn did an excelerated program and graduated a year early.

Scott and I also walked one morning earlier in the month at a beautiful park in Salisbury.

Lake at the Salisbury Park.

A gorgeous view of a field at the Salisbury Park.

I made one of my favorite cakes yesterday.  It is a chocolate wafer cake.  So good.  I have also attached a few other photos of things for this month.

Closeup of a roses I bought at Harris Teeter.

This is the full bouquet of roses.  They are gorgeous in person!

Mother's Day, Mason and I created a veggie garden for him.  He is into 18th century ways, so he is planting this garden the 18th century way.  So far his 3 black peanut plants are doing really well and 1 strawberry plant.  The corn hasn't come up yet.

My strawberries are blooming again and have some strawberries set again.  The last ones were so good!

When I was down in SC at my house, I snipped these roses.  They were so pretty.  I also got 2 strawberries out of my garden there.

Well I hope June is going to be a good month.  I hope my house in Lake City sells really soon.  Everyone have a lovely day!

May 1st is here already!

Hi Everyone!  Happy May Day!  Where in the world is this year going?  I cannot believe it is May 1st already!  I feel we just celebrated Christmas.

I brought 4 of my favorite rose bushes from SC to Scott's house.  They are all doing well.  I also brought up my veg trug that I put together last year for my herbs.  They are doing well also.  I have sage, lemon thyme, parsley and strawberries growing in the trug.  My dahlia tubers from Petalpickers in Greenville, SC have arrived.  I will be planting them in pots this year.  I really hope they do well, especially my favorite Cafe au Lait!  My Japanese Red Maple that I brought with me is doing so well.  It really loves it here!  My tree peony (which I have carted with me from NJ) is doing really well also, but will probably not bloom this year.  We had a freeze in SC this Spring and I think that stopped it from forming buds.  When I went to SC last week for a day and a half my daylilies were starting to bloom!  Here are some photos of them and the roses that were blooming.

I couldn't resist picking some of the Graham Thomas roses.  I brought them home with me to NC!

Some more roses in a vintage bottle.  Those 2 little strawberries are from my raised bed garden at the SC house.  They were so good!  I see this as a painting some day.  I'll need to get on that soon!

Katelyn, Scott's 17 year old daughter had her Prom in April.  She was so beautiful in her gold sparkly dress!  Here she is with her boyfriend, TJ.

It was fun helping her get her dress on and watch the stylist do her hair.  They had a wonderful time!

I had a pleasant surprise the last time I was in SC at my house.  Jenny let me have the boys for lunch and she joined us also.  I haven't seen the boys since Christmas time.  It was so nice!  I'm going to see them on Thursday for lunch while I'm down there for a CT Scan.

Owen and I

Scott and I went to Tennessee to see his long time friends, Troy and Karen.  We had a wonderful time.  Their house has been settling alot and they have been getting cracks above their doors in the house.  Scott, having been in construction and built his own house, offered to help them jack the house up.  That project was a success!  They are such nice people.  Can't wait to see them again.  Karen and I spent alot of time sitting on the front porch looking out at their gorgeous view.  See for yourself how wonderful their view are.

Here are a few random photos I took in April.

I was enjoying my tea early in the a.m. at my SC house.

Trying to finish up knitting the Habitation Throw I started the day I started chemo.  Almost there but just not quite.  I have a sweater I want to start, so this project needs to end.

Some meadow roses were blooming in Scott's backyard by the woods.  Even thought they aren't sought after, they are still beautiful!

Well that is about all I have to share with all of you for now.  I hope everything is going well with all of you!  Enjoy!

Vacation 3/2023

Scott and I went away for a few days to Bryson City, NC.  We rented a VRBO log cabin.  It was a great vacation and we loved the cabin, it was so cozy!  Here are some photos of the cabin.

This is the cabin from the front.  We love log homes and we really loved this cabin.

This fireplace was amazing!  It had gas logs in the fireplace, so no work was required even though we love the smell of real logs burning.

There was a loft upstairs (which I forgot to take a photo of).  There was a full bed, dresser and nightstands up there.

The living area had a full size bed, the fireplace, 2 handmade rocking chairs and a TV.

Scott and I went to the village/town of Bryson City.  We walked around and looked at all the Cherokee Indian jewelry, handmade items, paintings, baskets, etc.  Then we made our way to the Nantahala River.  It was just beautiful!  Trout fishing had started the Saturday we were there, so there were fisherman everywhere.  The night before I took these photos it rained so hard and so long.  The River was really high.  We saw 2 rafts filled with rafters and people in kayaks going down the river.

There is alot of natural reed (bamboo) growing along the river in spots.

A fisherman doing his thing.

Little purple violets were blooming.  I love them!

You can see some of the rapids in the river here.  It was a really swift current.

Scott bought me a necklace and earrings made by the Cherokee.  It is made from clam shell, the indians carved.  The purple is much more vivid in real life-just gorgeous!

This is the last picture of the river I took.  It was just gorgeous with all the stone.  The trees are just starting to get their leaves up there.

We had a wonderful trip!  We stopped at Cherokee Resorts and Casino on the way home.  Scott had a free night to stay in a suite there.  I didn't have any luck at the slots but Scott did, he won $4,700!  He is always lucky at the slots there.  It is good to be home, but it was wonderful to be with Scott for 5 days!

Until next time!
