Hair Coloring and Highlights Tonight!!

Tonight after work I'm due for some pampering! I am having my hair colored and highlighted tonight. I go to Harmony Salon very close to my house and they do a fantastic job! It is so nice and calming in that salon. They are an Aveda salon too, which is great for the environment. For being almost 50 years old, I was surprised I hadn't had many gray hairs. Both my younger sisters have been coloring their hair for years due to major gray hairs. (1 sister is 3 years younger and the other is 6 yrs. younger so I was surprised) Well last week I was putting on my makeup and I saw a glimmer in the mirror and wondered what it was! Well to my surprise it was a whole bunch of WHITE, yes WHITE hairs coming in my part!! I immediately called in John and he just laughed and said, "have you seen my hair lately". Well I proceeded to tell him that he was 5 years older than me and I'm not suppose to go straight to WHITE hair! I called my hairdresser and made an appt. for tonight. I know that sounds really vain but my Mom doesn't color her hair and even though she has great skin I think it makes her look so much older. Well after 6:00 tonight ladies I will be WHITE and gray hair free!!!

  1. Hi Sherri,
I've been coloring my hair for years, but finally gave up on this chore last year. Growing out permanent color is not fun and I've tried to have it blended, but to no avail. It just simply has to grow out.
    Hugs,

  2. I've had gray hairs for years - ever since my kids were teens. I got my first patch when John lived with us - named that area after him. Then I got a great big patch named Susan and a smaller patch named Donna.

But when Shelby came to live with us?? The whole front of my head is now Shelbyland!

I need to check my calendar - I should be due for new highlights pretty soon.

  3. I never had gray hair. I just get white popping up constantly. I even thought about just coloring my whole head silver. I think I like the looks of it. I won't color my hair black because then I'd have to keep it up and I'm...sadly... too lazy.

  4. You won't see a gray hair on my head - no siree. I've been coloring my hair for years and I have no plans to stop. I refuse to look at an old lady in the mirror until the mind is just as old and accepts it. But I am not accepting it now!!!

We all have to do what feels right for us and gray doesn't feel good to me. I bet you will look even more beautiful when you are done tonight!!

  5. Sherri,

I am doing the same tomorrow and partly for the same reason. I had been letting mine grow out after a dye job fro hell last summer. But I also now have grey hairs appearing and so I will be doing the same tomorrow afternoon. Hope it goes well.

  6. Hey Sherri, I just did that yesterday!! Not colouring, just highlights. I've always loved the colour of my hair, but it's getting darker the more birthdays I have.

Enjoy your outing -- hope you find it as mellowing as I found my day yesterday.
