The Parents are on their way!!

My parents are on their way down to visit with us. They are only staying for the night and heading back up to NJ. I asked them to stay longer but my Dad said he was only staying 1 night and then going back home. They are bringing the Christmas money to our family and they like to do that in person. My Mom is 73 and Dad is 74. The trip is 11 hours one way! They will be arriving at our house at about 5 p.m. and they will be leaving at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning! I offered to take a day off from work and spend it with them and I know my Mom wanted to do that, but Dad was stubborn and said no. I even tried to coax them with going to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden to see the lights, Mom wanted to but Dad said no. It isn't like Dad doesn't like us and he loves to see the whole family but he likes to be home and in his routine. I really think his way of thinking has become worse since Lupus has invaded his brain. I am just amazed that he can still make the trip!

The girls and their husbands will be coming down tonight to have dinner with all of us and then we will give my parents their gifts. Should be a fun time!

  1. Well enjoy your evening with your folks!! It's too bad they won't stay at least one full day. I do know what it's like when a parent makes up their mind about something though.... stubborn!! :-)

  2. Enjoy your time with your parents. They do tend to get very stubborn- I know mine are.

  3. I'm only 65 but that trip would wear me out. Maybe they'll reconsider when they get down there and see everybody. Don said even he wouldn't travel that way and that's saying, have a great visit.

  4. Aren't dads always stubborn!!

Enjoy you visit from them, even if it isn't as long as you'd like.

    Victoria xx

  5. I hope you enjoy your time with them. I hear it is cold down south. I am orginally from MS and my sis lives in Nashville and it was 19 there last night. I love your header.

  6. Have fun with your folks, even if it will be a short trip. Can't wait to hear all about your evening. Dads do have a way of being stubborn sometimes! Love & blessings from NC!

Ring of Kerry, Ireland
My husband, John and I went to Ireland for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. We had an awesome trip and we will never forget it. We actually got to visit our friends who live in Northern Ireland. We spent 3 wonderful days with them! The picture above was taken when we visited The Ring of Kerry. The beauty of Ireland is just spectacular! If you ever get a chance visit there.

Megan is my oldest daughter. She and Ken were married on April 12, 2008. It was a wonderful ceremony and reception!

Jenny and Kevin at their wedding 8/30/08. The wedding was at our home and turned out wonderful! Everyone had such a good time!
