Update on the Camera

Well yesterday I posted here about our camera missing. We did call our realtor and she said she would call the realtor that showed it. We got a call back from her within a few minutes. The other realtor said the wife of the couple that came through was acting very strange and she kept an eye on her. The realtor knew some people have resorted to stealing small items like Ipods, cameras, jewelry, Rx's, etc. She acted very strangely in our business office upstairs. At one point the realtor was trying to steer the couple down the hall to the bedrooms but the wife hesitated near my desk. She saw the wife over by my bookshelf for a really long time and the realtor went over there. We all think she had picked up my camera and then got caught by the realtor, so she had dropped it in a bag of books I had! I ran upstairs and looked around and sure enough I found my camera in the bag of books!! I cannot believe that people have stooped so low as to pretend to be interested in buying someone's home and then take their possessions! I am really glad I have it back. A lesson for John and I and the rest of the house selling population. I will be putting everything away and I will think twice before leaving my home while it's being shown. I also worry about Open Houses even more. What if 2 or more "prospective" buyers come to the Open House, the Realtor cannot possibly watch everyone all the time in different parts of the house. It is something to think about for sure. I don't want anymore open houses anyway, the never seem to attract buyers just nosey neighbors and people wanting decorating ideas. I'm off to church in a bit. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Sherri - I'm glad you found the camera.

I can't believe people are like that. I'm much too trusting. I always want to think good of people. With this economy, people will do desperate things.

If I were you, I would insist on staying in the house when it's shown. There's really no reason you have to leave. Sometimes it's nice to have the owner there in case the prospective buyer has a question that the realtor can't answer. I know that happened a lot when we sold our old house. In fact, when the buyer came through, I was there and we were able to work out a deal sitting at the kitchen table.

Lynne-I don't think John will be leaving the house during the day while the house is being shown. Especially since the camera incident and the other day he also missed an important business call (they didn't call his cell). We haven't decided about the Open House scheduled for next weekend yet. We will probably still have it but we won't leave. I don't know why the realtors here are very insistent that we leave the house so we don't intimidate buyers and so they can feel comfortable looking in our closets, drawers, etc. My thought is maybe the should look to see how big the closets are but the drawers they have no business in! It really makes me annoyed. Well see.

Sherri, I'm glad you found the camera. I hope you're not faced with a situation like that again. It's terrible you even have to think about it!

Ring of Kerry, Ireland
My husband, John and I went to Ireland for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. We had an awesome trip and we will never forget it. We actually got to visit our friends who live in Northern Ireland. We spent 3 wonderful days with them! The picture above was taken when we visited The Ring of Kerry. The beauty of Ireland is just spectacular! If you ever get a chance visit there.
Megan is my oldest daughter. She and Ken were married on April 12, 2008. It was a wonderful ceremony and reception!
Jenny and Kevin at their wedding 8/30/08. The wedding was at our home and turned out wonderful! Everyone had such a good time!
